• Anamika Majumder - Founder and Managing Trustee

    Anamika is a Software Engineer and has several years of experience working in companies like Sun Microsystems and Omgeo LLC (a subsidiary of DTCC) in Massachusetts, USA.
    She has an under-graduate degree in Engineering from the Malaviya National Institute of Technology, (f.k.a REC) Jaipur, Rajasthan, India and a Master's in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Anamika moved back to India after 12 years in May 2010 to set up One Billion Literates Foundation because she believes the need of the hour is to improve state run schools. Anamika works as a software professional in the Boston area.

  • Aashu Calapa -Trustee

    Aashu Calapa is currently a partner with Social Venture Partners India and also heads their program called Million Jobs Mission. Prior to this Asshu was heading The Live Love Laugh Foundation where he spent 18 months working in the area of building mental health awareness.

    Aashu's background is essentially in Human Resources (HR). He started his career in Wipro where he spent 11 years and followed that by spending another 11 years in Firstsource Solutions Limited. Aashu also served for a brief while (17 months) in redBus.

    Aashu has done his masters from Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations.

  • Arvind Malhan -Trustee

    Arvind is a Partner at New Silk Route (NSR), a $1.4 Billion private equity fund focused on South Asia, where he has led and managed the firm’s investments. Portfolio companies which have successfully gone public in India include VRL Logistics, Cafe Coffee Day, and Ortel Communications.

    Prior to joining NSR in 2010, Arvind served as Executive Director at JP Morgan Private Capital Asia, the Asian private equity arm of JP Morgan, where he was part of the founding team. He previously served as Director of TVG Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on telecom, media and information technology investments across Asia, where he started the firm’s India office. Prior to returning to India, Arvind served as a Principal at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) in the US, where he focused on investing in companies in the information technology and telecom sectors. Prior investments he has worked on which went public, or were successfully acquired, include Sasken Communication Technologies, Neutral Tandem (Inteliquent), Decru (Network Appliance) and TiVo. Arvind began his career at McKinsey and Company, where he developed strategic initiatives for leading global companies in the information technology and financial services industries, and he has also worked at Morgan Stanley Venture Partners and Pequot Capital Management.

    Arvind received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he received Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Sigma Xi honours. He serves as President and co-founder of the MIT Club of Bangalore. Arvind is a Fellow of the Aspen Institute’s India Leadership Initiative, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

  • Sangeeta P. Mahendran - Trustee

    Sangeeta has recently made her transition to social entrepreneurship after a 27-year career across companies like Hewlett Packard, Compaq, Digital, Microland and TVS Electronics. She is looking to invest her vast experience from the corporate sector to enable social enterprises & foundations to scale. Her venture Antraprerna will empower enterprises innovating for social impact by enabling an ecosystem of experts, technology and resources available.
    Passionate about Women’s empowerment and Leadership, Sangeeta is a Business mentor with Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and an avid contributor to Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Forums and Councils Globally.
    She has a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communications from BMSCE, an Executive MDP from IIM, Bangalore and is an Executive Leadership alum from Harvard Business School.
    Sangeeta lives in Bangalore with her husband Mahendran Balachandran, who is a VC with Accel Partners.

    Srinivas Katta is a founding and senior partner of IndusLaw. He represents entrepreneurs, businesses and investment funds on corporate governance issues, fund raising, partnerships, joint ventures, collaborations, acquisitions, investments and exits.
    Srinivas is a partner with IndusLaw with over 15 years of experience and specializes in mergers and acquisition, strategic alliances, private equity investment, joint ventures and corporate governance. Srinivas has been consistently listed in Band 1 for Corporate/ M&A and Band 2 for Private Equity by Chambers & Partners in its Asia guides. He has also been consistently recognized as “one of the leading lawyers of India” by Asialaw Profiles. He has been recognised in ‘The Mint’ for being one of the 40 who matter in the start-up ecosystem. Srinivas has also been endorsed as one of the most trusted lawyers in India in ICCA’s latest publication “The Vanguards”. Srinivas is a member of the board of several companies and is also a trustee and advisor to charitable foundations and projects. He speaks regularly at conferences.

  • Rajeevan Karal - Education Advisory Board Member

    Rajeevan Karal has been an English Language Teacher, Teacher Trainer and Master Trainer for over 45 years. For nearly two decades he was a member of the Faculty at the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. Later he moved to the Publishing industry to set up the Publishing Division for Cambridge University Press, India and retired as the Senior Vice-President of the Press in 2012. Since then he has been an independent English Language Consultant offering consultancy services to different publishers and is actively engaged in training teachers and developing content for teaching-learning purposes. He has authored many course books for teaching English to learners at school and university level. His major areas of interest include training, content development, curriculum development and self-directed learning.

  • Ms Geetha Rajeevan - Education Advisory Board Member

    Geetha Rajeevan has been an English Language Teacher and Teacher Trainer for nearly 40 years. In the latter part of her career, she was the Head of one of the premier International Schools in Hyderabad for 15 years and retired in 2016. During those years, she was actively engaged in introducing innovative practices in teaching and teacher development. Her areas of interest include activity-based learning and classroom innovation.

  • Anish Ramachandran – Hon. CEO

    Anish Ramachandran is a former Vice-President of Intel Corporation. Prior to his retirement from the corporate sector, he was VP and Director of Intel's Greater Asia Region operations, and worked at Intel in various leadership roles for over eighteen years. Prior to Intel, Anish was with Novell Inc for close to seven years and before that with a couple of other companies. Anish is a Post Graduate alumnus of XLRI, Jamshedpur and a graduate in Commerce from Madras University. He is a long time resident of Bangalore where he lives with his wife; they have a daughter who lives and works in London, UK.

  • Ruby Kamdin - Volunteer Director

    A Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary by profession, Ruby has long since been aiding and working for environmental and social causes, especially in the field of education, either by volunteering for NGOs or in her individual capacity. For the last 7 years, she has been imparting English Language skills to under privileged children. At One Billion Literates Foundation, apart from overall administering of the Foundation, she continues her English Language Training with local women, who have been employed as teachers of the village schools adopted by OBLF.

  • Mahesh Shetty - Program Manager – Rural

    Mahesh is an Electrical and Electronics Engineering Graduate from Manipal Institute of Technology.
    He has over 10 years’ experience, and has worked in Companies like BEL and in various Gulf countries.
    He has also been an Electrical Consultant for varied projects in India.
    He loves sports and the outdoors. At OBLF, he daily visits the rural schools to interact with the children
    and the rural Coordinators and to supervise our program.

  • Mahadevan Padmanabhan -Volunteer and Technology Lead

    Mahadevan is a software professional with over 10 years of experience in IT and has been volunteering at OBLF for the last few years. He has taken complete ownership of two of our schools.He does computer training for our Co-Ordinators.He would also like to create software or apps that would help us achieve our goals.4
    Mahadevan founded PlayKnow, an Edutech company bringing digital intervention in education, and has already developed pro bono, Apps for OBLF using OBLF’s own content.
