• Anamika Majumder - Founder and Managing Trustee

    Anamika is a Software Engineer and has several years of experience working in companies like Sun Microsystems and Omgeo LLC (a subsidiary of DTCC) in Massachusetts, USA.
    She has an under-graduate degree in Engineering from the Malaviya National Institute of Technology, (f.k.a REC) Jaipur, Rajasthan, India and a Master's in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Anamika moved back to India after 12 years in May 2010 to set up One Billion Literates Foundation because she believes the need of the hour is to improve state run schools. Anamika works as a software professional in the Boston area.

  • Aashu Calapa -Trustee

    Aashu Calapa is currently a partner with Social Venture Partners India and also heads their program called Million Jobs Mission. Prior to this Asshu was heading The Live Love Laugh Foundation where he spent 18 months working in the area of building mental health awareness.

    Aashu's background is essentially in Human Resources (HR). He started his career in Wipro where he spent 11 years and followed that by spending another 11 years in Firstsource Solutions Limited. Aashu also served for a brief while (17 months) in redBus.

    Aashu has done his masters from Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations.

  • Arvind Malhan -Trustee

    Arvind is a Partner at New Silk Route (NSR), a $1.4 Billion private equity fund focused on South Asia, where he has led and managed the firm’s investments. Portfolio companies which have successfully gone public in India include VRL Logistics, Cafe Coffee Day, and Ortel Communications.

    Prior to joining NSR in 2010, Arvind served as Executive Director at JP Morgan Private Capital Asia, the Asian private equity arm of JP Morgan, where he was part of the founding team. He previously served as Director of TVG Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on telecom, media and information technology investments across Asia, where he started the firm’s India office. Prior to returning to India, Arvind served as a Principal at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) in the US, where he focused on investing in companies in the information technology and telecom sectors. Prior investments he has worked on which went public, or were successfully acquired, include Sasken Communication Technologies, Neutral Tandem (Inteliquent), Decru (Network Appliance) and TiVo. Arvind began his career at McKinsey and Company, where he developed strategic initiatives for leading global companies in the information technology and financial services industries, and he has also worked at Morgan Stanley Venture Partners and Pequot Capital Management.

    Arvind received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he received Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Sigma Xi honours. He serves as President and co-founder of the MIT Club of Bangalore. Arvind is a Fellow of the Aspen Institute’s India Leadership Initiative, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

  • Manosh R. Sengupta -Trustee

    Manosh R Sengupta, Brand-parent, Nurturer, Mentor: brand-@itude. Manosh is an acknowledged strategy-integrator, having masterminded the indetity of many brands, including Idea Cellular. He has over two decades of industry experience with agencies like JWT, Bates and telecom operators like Tata Telecom, Idea Cellular, AT&T and Reliance Communications.

  • Sangeeta - Trustee

    Sangeeta has a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communications from BMSCE. She is Director – Global Capabilities & Shared Operations, Hewlett Packard. Sangeeta has been with HP since 1996. She has held Global & Regional responsibility in Sales, Solutions Marketing and Shared Services Delivery. Presently, Sangeeta leads the Global Delivery of BI/Analytics, Marketing, HR and Shared Operations for Hewlett Packard. Passionate about Women’s empowerment and Leadership, Sangeeta chairs the HP India D&I council and GBS India Diversity Forum. She is part of the National steering committee for D&I at NASSCOM and also Business mentor with Cherie Blair Foundation for Women with mentees in Malaysia and Belarus.

  • Ruby Kamdin - Volunteer Director

    A Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary by profession, Ruby has long since been aiding and working for environmental and social causes, especially in the field of education, either by volunteering for NGOs or in her individual capacity. For the last 7 years, she has been imparting English Language skills to under privileged children. At One Billion Literates Foundation, apart from overall administering of the Foundation, she continues her English Language Training with local women, who have been employed as teachers of the village schools adopted by OBLF.

  • Mahesh Shetty - Program Manager – Rural

    Mahesh is an Electrical and Electronics Engineering Graduate from Manipal Institute of Technology.
    He has over 10 years’ experience, and has worked in Companies like BEL and in various Gulf countries.
    He has also been an Electrical Consultant for varied projects in India.
    He loves sports and the outdoors. At OBLF, he daily visits the rural schools to interact with the children
    and the rural Coordinators and to supervise our program.

  • Jayashree Narayanan -Volunteer Program Supervisor-Urban

    Jayashree studied MIS (Management Information System ) at the Kansas State University and has also worked as a assistant teacher at a Preschool in New Jersey.
    After moving back to India she has worked as a Volunteer in Samarthanam (School for the under Privileged and Disabled school) where she has taught English to the students.
    She is currently volunteering in a Govt. School as an English teacher and also in the Library of her apartment complex in addition to being a green activist.

    At OBLF she supervises our support to the City schools and the volunteers at these schools

  • Mahadevan Padmanabhan -Volunteer and Technology Lead

    Mahadevan is a software professional with over 10 years of experience in IT and has been volunteering at OBLF for the last few years. He has taken complete ownership of two of our schools.He does computer training for our Co-Ordinators.He would also like to create software or apps that would help us achieve our goals.
