ELEVATE is a cornerstone initiative designed to enhance literacy among school children in rural and peri-urban government schools. Launched in 2010, this program addresses a critical gap in the education system, particularly in areas where trained teachers are scarce.
ELEVATE focuses on regions with limited access to qualified English teachers, addressing teacher shortages and learning gaps at both primary and secondary school levels. The program concentrates on three key areas: recruiting women from the community, offering continuous professional and personal development training, and providing meaningful employment opportunities.
ELEVATE aims to improve educational outcomes and address teacher shortages in government schools by recruiting and appointing teachers for all subjects, developing and implementing comprehensive training programs for their professional growth, and collaborating with the State Education Department to ensure adherence to educational standards and policies.
ELEVATE combines daily in-school teaching with EdTech interventions—such as gamified and digitized content—enhances learning outcomes and supports multi-skill English language development, including language production, reception, interaction, and overall proficiency.
Since its inception, ELEVATE has impacted over 43,000 children across 135 schools in the Anekal district, demonstrating OBLF’s dedication to fostering literacy and empowerment within the community.
