At OBLF, we believe that education, public health, sustainable livelihoods and community development are fundamental rights for all individuals, especially in underserved and marginalized communities. Our diverse programs are designed to address the pressing challenges faced by vulnerable populations in peri-urban and rural Karnataka, India.
Globally, over 250 million children are out of school, highlighting the urgent need for accessible education (UNESCO). This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Moreover, the World Health Organization (WHO) reports that over 5 million children under the age of five die each year from preventable causes, underscoring the critical importance of public health initiatives and contributing to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being. Economic disparities persist, with an estimated 700 million people living on less than $1.90 a day, emphasizing the need for sustainable livelihoods to break the cycle of poverty (World Bank) and support SDG 1: No Poverty.
Through our targeted programs in education, public health, livelihoods and community development, we aim to empower individuals and foster resilience, ensuring that every community has the opportunity to thrive. By aligning our efforts with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, we strive to create a more equitable and sustainable future.
